Osklen Salmonskin Bag & Boots

Runway to Green is bringing together some of the world's top designers to help raise awareness about the environment. Jason Wu, Yves Saint Laurent, Thakoon, Gucci, and other major fashion brand have  been selected to create a design specifically for this project. They have to commit to the terms of educating and creating awareness for the environment and we love the fact that all this big names (think Balenciaga and Burberry) wants to be a part of this project even though the clothes they make in general are probably harmful to the environment. But what we are saying is, we love this project, we ourselves at Sara & Pearly try our best to use eco-friendly fabrics like cotton and hemp and practice a sustainable workforce.

We looked at the clothes and items that are up at NET-A-PORTER and we saw Osklen Salmonskin Boots. Come on guys, leave the sushi alone! We know that it's not an incredibly new thing to use fish skin in today's trend (John Galliano used salmon skin for their shoes at Christian Dior, Calvin Klein using fish skin for their pumps and even Nike uses salmon skin for their sneakers!) but we just want to leave our food on the table and not our feet. Can you imagine how it is when it's wet? That's when we  really call it "feeling like a fish out of water."

Check out the pictures.

Will you be carrying around your salmon skin bag and shoe to go fishing with the boys?

Here our two cents - We do not know how using fish skin is eco-friendly when it upsets the animal rights lobby.

Sushi boots anyone?
Do not think for a second wearing salmon skin will give you omega-3s health benefits. We say let the fish be on the dinner plate and not on our feet. Amen.
