NEW YORK FASHION WEEK REPORT

We're halfway through New York Fashion Week, and we've seen many promising looks from our favorite designers. If you did not get any invites to the fashion show at Lincoln center with front rows seat next to Anna Wintour - we assure you your life is not over yet.

Youtube's got a live streaming channel where you can watch the runway show LIVE. Check it out HERE.
Also do not forget to check out STYLE.COM for photos and reviews. They are always up-to-date and we love that they include the models name beside the photos (Isn't it a shame to see gorgeous models and never know their name?). Style.com is the internet fashion hub. And if you'll ever want to know more, feel free to hit us up. You'll know we'll get back to you -although we may not give you the accurate information but we will definitely get back to you - maybe with a random thought.

Back to the runway - we ADORE Prabal Gurung, the 37-year-old Singapore-born designer. Prabal was bred in Nepal and he first showcased his collection here in New York in 2009 and he's dressed Michelle Obama. Prabal is currently living in Tribeca, NYC. I think it's about that we start buying our coffee at Tribeca (despite the fact that we work at 125th st).

Here's our favorite look-fresh off the runway.

A runner-up to Prabal, Jason Wu had us screaming with ecstasy with the high-waist silhouette and soft pink flowy fabric. Take a look.

However we felt a tad of disappointment with Alexandar Wang's collection. We're not a fan of the just-came-out-of-the-shower wet hair look on the models and we're iffy about the netting on the pockets. This time around we're not blown away.
Alexandar Wang sets the bar high up for street wear but critics claim that his S/S 2012 collection was "excessive".

We'll leave you with a video of Mara Hoffman's collection - we adore the braids on the models and the tribal looks. We're so inspired that we're trying to do the braids on ourselves.

Signing off for now. Come back again for more fashion week updates.

XO,
Pearly

Piers Atkinson Autumn/Winter 2011 'PARIS'

Piers Atkinson, the London based milliner brought yet another impeccable and fun collection to the table this year. His Autumn/Winter 2011 collection called 'Paris' won us over the with pieces like huge cherry headband and neon lights navy beret - we were just wondering how they switch the neon lights on/off and if you have a special button where you can hide in your blouse to switch it on. Talk about making an impression - more so when the lights run out of battery when you are making a red carpet appearance.

On a more serious note, it's safe to say that this man will never stop at making more creative headsets, he's already made pieces for Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera and Rihanna to name a few! Read here to see celebrities with Atkinson's headset. To conclude, we foresee that there'll be more fruits, vegetables and toys on people's head as long as Atkinson is in the picture. Maybe Atkinson should consider making a headset with a real fruit so that people can actually eat them.Yum!

Look at LUCA LUCA.

After reading their description from their website http://lucaluca.com/about/, we understand that LUCA LUCA is founded in Italy, Milan in 1991 and is a high fashion women's luxury lifestyle brand. They branch out to the States in 1997 and made their debut on Fashion Week the following year. We also know that the founder's name is Luca Orlandi (of course it was named after the founder). Apart from that, we couldn't really find anything exceptional about this luxury brand - except that an online magazine name one of LUCA LUCA's piece as "Runway Misses"(read here). While we agree that LUCA LUCA's got some interesting pieces that we would totally wear (omg the layering in their Fall 2011 collection is brilliant and reminds us of trees, leaves and shrubs!) - there are some that made us question their taste (whats with the fuchsia beanie?). Take a look at our the pieces we love and the ones that made us cringe in our seat (think fuchsia beanie again and a jacket that looks like a dandelion florets).

First see our favorite pieces and see if you agree with us.

Here are those that miss-the-spot for us.
