NEW YORK FASHION WEEK REPORT

We're halfway through New York Fashion Week, and we've seen many promising looks from our favorite designers. If you did not get any invites to the fashion show at Lincoln center with front rows seat next to Anna Wintour - we assure you your life is not over yet.

Youtube's got a live streaming channel where you can watch the runway show LIVE. Check it out HERE.
Also do not forget to check out STYLE.COM for photos and reviews. They are always up-to-date and we love that they include the models name beside the photos (Isn't it a shame to see gorgeous models and never know their name?). Style.com is the internet fashion hub. And if you'll ever want to know more, feel free to hit us up. You'll know we'll get back to you -although we may not give you the accurate information but we will definitely get back to you - maybe with a random thought.

Back to the runway - we ADORE Prabal Gurung, the 37-year-old Singapore-born designer. Prabal was bred in Nepal and he first showcased his collection here in New York in 2009 and he's dressed Michelle Obama. Prabal is currently living in Tribeca, NYC. I think it's about that we start buying our coffee at Tribeca (despite the fact that we work at 125th st).

Here's our favorite look-fresh off the runway.

A runner-up to Prabal, Jason Wu had us screaming with ecstasy with the high-waist silhouette and soft pink flowy fabric. Take a look.

However we felt a tad of disappointment with Alexandar Wang's collection. We're not a fan of the just-came-out-of-the-shower wet hair look on the models and we're iffy about the netting on the pockets. This time around we're not blown away.
Alexandar Wang sets the bar high up for street wear but critics claim that his S/S 2012 collection was "excessive".

We'll leave you with a video of Mara Hoffman's collection - we adore the braids on the models and the tribal looks. We're so inspired that we're trying to do the braids on ourselves.

Signing off for now. Come back again for more fashion week updates.

XO,
Pearly

DESIGNER CENTRAL: Mara Hoffman

Mara Hoffman is a New York fashion designer whose line, Mara Hoffman, launched in 2000. She studied fashion design and graduated from the infamous design school Parsons School of Design in New York City and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

Hoffman caught our attention with her drapy ethnic print signature-look. We love EVERY PIECE of her collection - in fact when we look up all her past collection, we fell even more in love with her and her consistency. She's bringing back the bohemian silhouette and she's doing a good job at it. She pulls her attention from nature, world travel and fantasy and sure enough as we check out her website (http://www.marahoffman.com/) pictures of her travels and some weird galaxy space background pop-up and you can't help but secretly wonder - is Hoffman some gifted space creature sent to earth to make clothes for mankind? Her latest collection (which pictures are shown here) is called "From Sacred Mother to Warrior" and like we said we couldn't help but wonder if Hoffman is living in some fantasy alien world. If yes, we would like to tap into it too.

Well, one thing we know for sure - Hoffman left us intrigued and wanting more of her inspiring work and we look forward to see what her fantasy brings us next.

This week's spotlight.

THE ROYAL WEDDING
Kate Middleton has been keeping her dress a secret until the engagement - true enough as words have it - she's wearing Sarah Burton of Alexander Mcqueen. It is made from hand-cut English lace and French Chantilly lace and the train is SIX feet long. As the Brits say "It's fabulous darling!" Every girl on the planet wish they were in her shoes right now.
