A friend and I showed up for the two-day canine carnival at Brooklyn Lyceum a week ago. We arrived to be greeted by little furry dogs at the doorstep and we knew that we were in the right place. The entrance was free, which makes us very happy (we love free stuff) and we patted some furry paws as we scurried to find seats before the show begins.
The four-legged local canine will strut their stuff on the stage and will be judged accordingly to the category, such as "Best Beard," "Softest Ears," "Most Nutritionally Advantaged" (which mean fattest) and a "Snook-a-Like (Snook from Snooky Jersey Shore)" contest. As we try to control our laughter as the furry paws wriggle their way up to the stage in mischief ,I also sat there in awe of the space and the architecture of this century-old building that has been home to a long line of activities and events.
They say on their homepage: “At its core the Brooklyn Lyceum is a gym, a theatre and a café – not necessarily in that order. We see the building as a medieval town square: market one day, performance the next. “. I can definitely see a good line-up of discerning amalgamation of activities going on in this historical building.
The space of this place is quite amazing. |
We cracked up by the innocence of these furry canines. |
Manage to catch up with some cute canines outside the building. |
This proud pooch has got a medal. Looking good handsome. |
The next event we hope to see. |
The event is the Brooklyn Lyceum's 3rd Annual Marketplace. This annual marketplace boast more than 60 artisan vendors and admission is free.
